Rubondo Island National Park
Rubondo Island National Park (457 km2/176 sq mi) is situated on an island in south-western Lake Victoria. Together with some smaller island in the area, Rubondo protects precious fish breeding grounds.

The island is covered by forests, grasslands and lakeside papyrus beds. It has natural populations of for example hippos, vervet monkeys and sitatunga (a kind of wetland antelope). Chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus, elephants, giraffes and roan antelopes have been introduced.

More than 400 bird species have been recorded on the island, including storks, egrets, herons and kingfishers. There is a high density of African fish eagles.

The game viewing in Rubondo is done by foot or by boat. Fishing for tilapia or Nile perch is a popular activity.

Rubondo Island in the south-west corner of Lake Victoria is a national park protecting the island and the surrounding lake. The island has much forest and interesting animals, including many birds, some large mammals, for example introduced elephants and chimpanzees, and butterflies.

Rubondo Island Camp is a luxury tented camp, set on the lake shore. There are ten tents, all with ensuite bathroom and private veranda. The camp also has a restaurant, serving much fish, a bar and a swimming pool. It is the only camp or lodge on the island, offering quiet and relaxing surroundings. The camp offers activities such as safari walks, boating safaris and fishing.
