Arusha Coffee Lodge
Arusha
Arusha Coffee Lodge is a luxury lodge just west of Arusha in northern Tanzania. It's set within Arusha's largest coffee plantation, which lies on the main road towards the main safari areas (including Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti) and Arusha Airport (ARK/HTAR).

The lodge has 18 plantation houses, which have been renovated to very good standard. The pictures on this page show the level of quality and style.

The main building is a short walk from the guest plantation houses, and has restaurant, bar and a comfortable lounge. The lodge also has a swimming pool, boutiques, hair dresser and conference facilities.

Wildlife and safaris
The lodge is not meant for staying in during safaris, as the good park are too far away. It serves better as a quality lodge for overnight stays in connection with flights to or from Kilimanjaro/Arusha. We suggest that you, if possible, check out late from the lodge, to allow yourself time to enjoy the breakfast and surroundings before setting out for your safari or continuing your tour towards your next destination.

Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park is situated 45 to 75 minutes' drive east of the lodge, and it's a suitable park for a day tour. It has a number of different biotopes, ranging from freshwater and soda lakes to grassland and mountain forest. There is also a high mountain, Mount Meru, 4,566 m/14,980 ft.

Mainly herbivores, monkeys and birds are seen. Zebras, buffalos, waterbucks and giraffes are often spotted, and it's a park where you can be fairly sure to see bushbuck at close range.

Elephants and red duikers are harder to spot. The park is known for its population of black-and-white colobus monkeys.

Because of the mix of habitats, there's a lot to see for birders. Some of the fine species we have seen are crowned eagle, lanner falcon, Levaillant's cuckoo, Hartlaub's turaco and narina trogon.

Tarangire and Lake Manyara
Both Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park are about 1.5 hours' drive from Arusha, which means day tours are possible. The roads are tarmac almost all the way. Both these parks offer a varied wildlife, including good chances of seeing elephants.
